What drives the stamped concrete cost premium
Stamped concrete requires more tradespeople on pour day (typically 3 instead of 2), because the stamping window is narrow and every m2 of slab needs to be stamped before the concrete hardens. A larger crew is not optional - it is what makes the stamp consistent across the full pour.
Colour-hardener is applied to the fresh concrete surface and worked in with a float before stamping. The brand (Brickform, Increte, Bomanite) and dose rate are specified by the manufacturer for the chosen colour. Cheap or off-brand colour-hardeners produce inconsistent colour that fades unevenly.
Release agent is applied to the stamps before each press to prevent the stamp from sticking. The agent type (powder vs liquid) and application method affect the release-agent colour contrast on the finished surface. The sealer locks in this contrast.
